Jess and Max’s Spring wedding at Weston Hall
I met Jess and Max at their friends wedding last year. I took a few photos of them at the wedding and noticed what a fun couple they were tearing up the dance-floor later that evening. So Naturally I was overjoyed when they contracted me to photograph their wedding that took place a few weeks ago. They chose to get married at St Chads Church and to have their reception at Weston Hall.
This day started a little differently for me (and for Max too!) with a trip to Mo’s barbers in Leek where he and his guys are having a full MOT – Turkish style. I captured Max having his hair cut, ear hair burnt and even nasal hair waxed. Yes it sounds like torture but Max sure looks the part by the time he got to the ceremony.
After the barbers it was onto the Jess’ patents house for her getting ready. It looked considerable less painful and much more relaxing that the guys prep. As the makeup was applied and everyones hair was finished off I photographed the small details and the developing story. It was great to capture the emotion and excitement shared by Jess’ closest family and friends.
St Chads Church
Jess travelled to the Church in a Mercedes while her bridesmaids arrived in the amazing Blue Pumpkin Campervan. The ceremony was held at St Chads, Longsdon which is a fantastic location. It was the perfect setting for Jess and Max to say their wedding vows and tie the knot. I’m grateful for the vicar allowing me to shoot from the front enabling me to capture all the emotion and reactions.
As we left the church there was a little rain. But this didn’t stop the newly weds having fun with confetti and were full of smiles as their friends congratulated them. Rain can be a brides biggest fear for the wedding day, but I’ve never once seen it spoil the day. I did however have to pull a bridesmaids car out of the mud with my 4×4, its all part of the service!
Weston Hall wedding reception
Once at Weston Hall the guests relaxed with a drink as the couple made their way over in the camper van. The guests and the couple had a great day. It was a lovely atmosphere and everyone really enjoyed themselves. I walked around photographing the guests as they relaxed and talked.
This was a fantastic Spring wedding and we made sure we got some lovely shots at the venue. The rain stayed around for the majority of the day, but it did not dampen Jess and Max’s spirits, the bride and groom were determined not to let it have any affect on their day.
After the wedding breakfast it was time for the speeches. All speeches were well planned and entertaining however Max had gone the extra mile creating a slideshow video. Let’s just say there were plenty of tears, he did good.
Into the evening Blaze entertainment DJ spun the first dance and from then on the dance floor was rocking. I knew it was going to be a fantastic wedding when Jess and Max booked me to photograph it and I wish them evey happiness for the future.
Weston Hall wedding venue
Weston Hall was originally built in 1550 as a small Dower House, a house built for the widow of an estate owner. In around 1600 the house was extended in into a much bigger building with three high pitched roofs.
The fourth pitched roof was added in the 19th century by the owners at the time The Shrewsbury Estates which completed the building into the magnificent hall we see today. After spending several years as various different conversions, including flats, it was converted into an eating establishment in the early 90’s.
The current owners bought Weston Hall in 2012. After a no expense spared refurbishment the hall reopened as one of the best wedding venues in Staffordshire. Since then Weston Hall has gone from strength to strength. The owners have also acquired the nearby Saracens Head pub. This is a great base for the groomsmen to meet for a cheeky beer before the ceremony.
Weston Hall is an exclusive wedding venue. You will be the only wedding at the venue on that day. The restaurant is open but this is downstairs in the cellar area so your guests won’t get mixed up.
There is a dedicated room on the top floor for couple who hold their ceremony at the venue. Having this separate from the dining rom on the middle floor means no delays in room turn around.
All in all Weston Hall is one of the best wedding venues in Staffordshire.
