Unposed wedding photos from Alice and Matt’s wedding

Late last summer I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Alice and Matts wedding at Field and Forest venue in Yoxall. This was my first and sadly only visit to the venue as the owners have apparently decided to wind down the wedding element of the business, which is a shame because it was a very unique location.

For this blog post I’ve decided to show only unposed photos for the day to highlight just how important the story-telling aspect of wedding photography is. Of course on the day we still did some posed photos of the couple and family group photos, the set wouldn’t have been complete without them. But the aim of this post is to show the emotion that’s captured in documenting natural moments and interactions.

Natural wedding photography

I aways recommend to my couples not to go too overboard with requests for family group photos or posed shots as then you’ll spend less time enjoying the wedding and me capturing natural moments like these. It’s all about finding the correct balance, which is why I spend time chatting to you before the wedding so that on the day I get the balance right for you.

Field and Forest venue was set in a beautiful secluded area of countryside that included a large open space and a wooded area where the ceremony was held. They didn’t hold a licence for the actual legal element of the wedding so couples would ask a celebrant to hold the ceremony instead. I enjoy ceremonies with a celebrant as couples have freedom to personalise the ceremony a little more.

As the venue is relatively a DIY affair all the styling and decorating was done by the couple which again adds to how personalised this wedding was to them. Thats the beauty about being a wedding photographer, no two weddings are the same.

Tipi weddings

After the ceremony everyone made their way back down the hill to the tipis ready for the drinks reception. Everyone was really relaxed and enjoyed wandering around the beautiful venue in the afternoon sun.

Alice and Matt had arranged some fantastic evening entertainment. The band, Gentleman of the road, were absolutely fantastic and there was Doughology making amazing wood fired pizza.

Alice and Matts wedding was fantastic, I hope you enjoy looking at the unposed wedding photos from their big day. If you’d like a photographer who specialises in story-telling wedding photography please get in touch to have a chat about your day.
