Adlington Hall Wedding – Laura and Matt
As we continue to catch up with last year wedding blogs I’m excited to present Laura and Matts wedding at Adlington Hall in Cheshire. As I’m a wedding photographer in Staffordshire, it isn’t unusual for me to shoot in the surrounding counties including Cheshire. That said Adlington Hall is a venue I’d yet to work at, so naturally I was super excited to be given the opportunity when Laura and Matt got in touch.
Adlington Hall
Adlington Hall is a venue steeped in history with origins going fightback to Saxon times when it was first established as a hunting base. However it was around the 17th – 18th century that the house took the form it is today when the great hall was built. It is in the Great Hall that couples can tie the knot and this is what Laura and Matt were set to do on their wedding day. Within the Great Hall are brightly coloured murals on the walls and intricate carvings on the roof. As well as the Great Organ which it is believed the composer Handel has played.
Enough of the history lesson I hear you say, tell me about the wedding!
Weddings at Adlington Hall
As usual the day started with bridal prep. Laura was getting ready in the hunting lodge at Adlington Hall while Matt was getting himself ready offsite.
As soon as Laura was ready it was time for her to make her way from the Hunting Lodge to the Great Hall to say her vows. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t playing ball today and it was raining quite heavily. I don’t mind getting a bit wet for some cracking story telling photos like Lauras brother holding an umbrella as she makes the journey between buildings.
Wedding ceremony at Adlington Hall
The Great Hall makes an amazing location for a wedding ceremony and certainly has the wow factor. Its quite dark and atmospheric and the candles really help make the occasion feel very authentic.
After the ceremony the guests moved to another room to enjoy canapés and drinks while they congratulated the newlyweds. I kept my eye on the weather for a suitable break to nip out with Laura and Matt for some photos in the stunning grounds Adlington Hall has to offer. This is one of those venues where there are that many great areas for photos you have to keep check of the time so you don’t get carried away. Due to the ground being wet from the rain I kept the couple in the drier areas, but this is no problem for a venue like Adlington Hall due to the sheer aunt of amazing locations on offer.
Wedding photos at Adlington Hall
For the family photos we used the Great Hall with the painted mural as a backdrop. You have to wonder how many generations of families have had their photographs taken in this spectacular hall over the centuries.
After the drinks reception the guests are invited back to the hunting lodge for the wedding breakfast and prepare for the evening celebrations. It was great to see a familiar face, DJ Tom Finkill, who was there to entertain the guest and get the party well and truly started.
This was another fantastic wedding I was honoured to be a part of. Laura and Matt had an amazing day at this superb wedding venue. If you’re planning a wedding and would like a relaxed and creative style of photography please do get in touch to have a chat about your day.
