Katie and Neil’s New year wedding at The Ashes Barns
My first wedding of 2018 saw me back at The Ashes venue for Katie and Neil’s big day. Only a couple of days into 2018, The Ashes still had their Christmas tree up and everyone was still in the party vibe. A stunning venue all year round it was great to start the year off on familiar territory and it was apparent from the offset what a great day this was going to be.
Christmas wedding at The Ashes
My day started at The Ashes for Katie’s prep which was in the Ashes dedicated room The Old Dairy. She had her bridesmaids, make up artist and hair dresser al on hand to assist. Later on throughout the morning her daughter arrived looking beautiful in her little frock. Neil and his guys arrived shortly before the wedding to greet guests as they arrived and before long it was time for the wedding ceremony.
Winter wedding at The Ashes
After the ceremony the weather seemed ok, so we nipped outside ready for the groups. Unfortunately winter weddings can be a real mixed bag and it soon started raining Fortunately it wasn’t long until the skies cleared to reveal a sunny and reasonably mild day in the space of a few minutes! This left us with a beautiful sky above the lake for a few shots before everyone went inside ready for the wedding breakfast and speeches.
Katie and Neil had booked a magician to entertain the guests between courses. He went down an absolute storm with the guests and some tricks were mind blowing. i always think its a great idea to book a little extra entertainment, whether that be a caricaturist, acoustic band/singer or a magician.
This wedding was a whole load a fun and a great way to kick off my 2018 wedding season. If you’re having a wedding at The Ashes, or anywhere else for the matter, and would like a documentary wedding photographer please do contact me to chat about your day.
