In early October I was back at one of my regular venues Pendrell Hall, in Staffordshire. I’ve worked at Pendrell a lot over the years and thats certainly not something I’m complaining about. A stunning country house wedding venue in Staffordshire run by the same team as The Ashes and The Mill Barns venues. I also received some amazing news last week, I have been made a member of Pendrell Hall’s “Dream Team”. The Dream Team are a selection of suppliers hand picked by the venue for providing excellent service over the years of working there. I’m very grateful and humbled to have been added to this list of amazing wedding suppliers.
German wedding traditions
I was really looking forward to Anna and Alun’s wedding. The couple live in Germany with Anna being German herself. So the couple decided to adopt a couple of fun German traditions at their wedding. Rather than having canapés during the drinks reception there was cake, and lots of it too! I may have sampled one or two and found out later that they were all home made, they were truly delicious. The couple also cut their cake during the drinks reception so that it could be served to guests straight away.
Another fantastic tradition the couple borrowed from Germany was cutting a heart in a bed sheet using only nail scissors. This sounds tricky enough but the heart has to be big enough to fit through and someone decided to give Alun a pair of blunt scissors. Cruel but such good fun! Its always nice to see a few different traditions thrown into UK weddings for a break from the norm.
Autumn wedding at Pendrell Hall
The day started off at Pendrell Hal with me capturing the girls getting ready in the dedicated prep room “Love is enough”. My colleague Joe came along to shoot this wedding with me so he went to where the guys were getting ready for some relaxed groom prep shots.
Throughout the day we managed to find time for a few quick portraits about the venue. There are loads of opportunities for photos at Pendrell Hall, both inside and outside. As this was a fine autumn day we made use of the grounds whilst guests were enjoying lawn games.
Later in the evening Alun and Anna had some sparklers for shot with some guests, and then a Ceilidh band for the evening entertainment after the first dance. Big thanks to Joe for coming along to shoot this one with me, always a pleasure.
