Gemma and Jons Pendrell Hall wedding
A question I’m always asked as a wedding photographer is “what happens if it rains?”. Couples getting married in the autumn and winter months are often prepared for rain but of course living in the good old UK we can have a wet day at any time of year. Couples are often worried about how rain might affect their photos and will it have a wider impact on their wedding day as a whole.
This is a topic that deserves a blog post of its own (someone remind me to do this!) but in short this is what will happen if it rains on your wedding day:
1) You’ll get ready and probably get really nervous
2) You’ll get married and probably get really emotional
3) We’ll take some amazing photos, you’ll eat some amazing food
4) You might get a little tipsy and dance the night away!
I’ve shot over 450 wedding and I promise the rain won’t stop you having an amazing day unless you let it. And this blog is completely testament to that statement. I normally tell couples it won’t rain all day, but thats exactly what happened on Jon and Gemmas wedding day, and guess what? They still had an amazing wedding! Here’s what happened on their special day.
Gemma and Jon were married at Pendrell Hall in Codsall Wood, Staffordshire. As Pendrell Hall’s Dream Team photographer its always a joy going back there regularly to photograph weddings, every wedding at Pendrell is amazing and the staff are dear friends who I’ve missing over the extended lockdown the wedding industry I still faced with.
Gemma got ready in Pendrell Halls dedicated preparation room ‘Love is enough’. Her family and main of honour were there adding to the excitement as make up artist and styling Caro Millington made them all look even more amazing. Its great to photograph prep and build the story as the excitement grows.
I also caught up with Jon before the ceremony who was getting ready in Pendrell halls groom prep room ‘Pimpernel’. The guys were donning their suits, making themselves look dapper and preparing for the day ahead.
Wedding ceremony at Pendrell Hall
The ceremony took place amongst family and friends in Morning room at Pendrell and it was truly fantastic to see Gemma and Jon cementing their partnership by exchanging rings and saying their vows. A lovely, relaxed ceremony with heaps of emotions and smiles is all you need or could wish in a wedding ceremony. Later into the evening I even had a second (pretend) ceremony to photograph!

Following the ceremony guests enjoyed drinks and mingled about the various different rooms Pendrell Hall has to offer. As previously mentioned this was a really rainy day but when you have such a beautiful interior to enjoy it really doesn’t matter. It was a lovely atmosphere and everyone really enjoyed themselves.
I took the opportunity to sneak the couple off for a few photos using various indoor locations I know work well, plus the odd shot in a doorway where the couple are able to stay dry. Indoor family photos are also no problem at Pendrell Hall as there is plenty of space to find a suitable location with a pleasing backdrop.
As the afternoon turned to evening it was time for the speeches and to get ready for the first dance. After the formalities were all complete there was only thing left to do was get on the dance floor and party, and thats exactly what happened!
This was another amazing wedding at Pendrell Hall and I can’t wait to be back there. Please do get in touch if you’d like to know more about my photography and see more of my work.
